Statement
I
am concerned with revealing, through perspectival exploration,
the hidden architectures constructed by light in nature.
The natural object and landscape are technically recorded
and manipulated to make apparent the chromatic registres
and the trajectories of light that, because of its constructive
actions, escape the human eye. The nature so deconstructed
is then transposed in painting. Detail is rendered only
insofar it is a lighted surface. Different tones of the
same colour help create depth that challenges, from a
distance, the decorative appearance of the painting.
My
art reminds the viewer that interpretation is always dependent
on, and secondary to, the complexity of the order it discusses.
In nature, harmony is not always apparent, even for the
trained eye. Every day, I feel compelled to reveal the
beauty that light puts, second by second, into the landscape
or into the most common of flowers, making them unique.
I offer not landscapes, but visions of transitory structures.
The constant movement of light generates grandiose designs
that make palpable their instability, challenging the
representational arrest.
